Buddies With Badges

This program focuses on bringing law enforcement officials to local elementary schools, for unstructured playtime on the school playground. This is a fantastic opportunity for the kids and officers to interact in a controlled environment where the kids feel safe and protected.

We pair local elementary schools with officers in their area, working within the best time frames for both parties. This program is the very foundation of building trust, respect, and admiration between local law enforcement officials and the young children of the community.

If your school is interested in signing up to participate in this program, or if you know a local officer to recommend, contact us today! There are multiple ways for your school or PTA to get involved with the program, such as donating playground toys and equipment to engage the children and officers in unstructured play together.

What's Up Wednesday

This is a wonderful way to provide education across many different communities that may not have access to a Police at Play presence at their own school.

Children will email or contact Police at Play through our social media outlets with questions, and we will select one of our law enforcement partners to provide answers. The officer will create a video and answer as many of the child’s questions as possible, and this video will be sent directly to the child and posted to social media. Children can ask questions about the officers’ personal interests, equipment used during the day, training protocols, or anything else. It is a great way to humanize law enforcement officials through a form of interaction that children will enjoy and understand.

This is perfect for children at schools that don’t have a Buddies with Badges program set up yet. Teachers can use this as a learning opportunity by coming up with a list of questions from the children in their classroom, as it is a great way to open up dialogue around the topic of community and law enforcement. The beauty of social media is that it can reach children from anywhere around the world, to continue to change perceptions and build safe communities globally.

Freeze Pop Friday

This is a fun, low-pressure way for children to socialize with local officers and get a sweet treat at the same time! Police at Play will bring officers to your local neighborhoods, schools, and community organizations for a meet and greet with community members young and old. This is a great learning opportunity for families to enjoy together!

Block Parties

Police at Play will set up these awesome parties as a way to bring together all community helpers, first responders, churches, and local businesses. It is a great opportunity to get to know the people who keep your community safe!

Our sponsors will provide us with food and fun activities, creating the perfect low-pressure social environment to continue to build trust and mutual respect for authority. The event can be enjoyed by all members of the community, and is perfect for families, friends, and local businesses.

By establishing relationships with the other members of your community, a safe and trusted environment is created, and a positive change begins to take shape through teamwork and community interaction.

Story Stations

Reading is one of the most important developmental milestones in a young child’s life, and Police at Play understands the importance of sharing books and stories, especially in communities where reading materials may not be easily accessible. Our story stations provide free book exchanges to the entire community, and officers can stop at these stations and have meaningful conversations with children as they select a favorite book to take home.

We partner with local police departments, various sponsors, and organizations like Habitat for Humanity, to bring books into the lives of children in underserved communities. Reading can open doors for children to achieve academic success, and will inspire a love of reading that will continue throughout their lives. If you are interested in working with us, becoming a sponsor, or donating books to our Story Stations, please contact us!

Our hope is that children will have fond memories of these programs forever and that the education received through Police at Play will last a lifetime.
